On the National School Counseling Platform:

TCE School Counselor, Lisa Piatek, co-authored an article about Student Success Skills, K-2, with Drs. Tom Keller, Brandie Oliver and Nick Abel of Butler University, regarding student's readiness skills in lower elementary.  The article is to be published in this year's ASCA Journal, a nationally-recognized school counseling publication featuring the newest and most effective school counseling curriculum and uses.  The article speaks of how the authors combined ASCA's Mindsets and Behaviors with Indiana School Counseling competencies to yield the Student Success Skills curriculum.  Student behaviors identified and addressed are Self-Motivation/Self-Direction, Self-Discipline/Self-Control, Coping Skills, Listening Skills and Positive/Supportive Relationships.  The curriculum is based on a data-driven and research-based curriculum of readiness lessons presented by Ms. Piatek in a series of in-class guidance lessons to grades K-3.

Ms. Piatek was also a co-presenter at this year's ASCA (American School Counselor Association) Conference in New Orleans, LA, this past July.  The presentation was based on the Student Success Skills curriculum and was presented to counselor attendees at the conference.
